What it means
to walk in Misato.
In the center of Kumamoto Prefecture, Misato Town is home to stone-walled rice terraces built up over six centuries, Japan's largest stone arch bridge, the heart-shaped light of Futamatabashi Bridge, and quiet mountain trails.
We have shaped each of these into 19 footpath courses so that visitors can experience them on foot.
As you walk, the scent of ripening rice, the murmur of the river, and the soft "hello" of locals reach your ears. A footpath is a journey without hurry. Stop, crouch down, look up at the sky.
All of this is the "real" Misato.

小崎コース
こざきコース
室町の頃から築かれ続けた石垣。歩くにつれその表情を変える石垣の棚田は、バランスよくどこから見ても圧巻です。その景観がペルーのマチュピチュ遺跡に似ていることから“美里のマチュピチュ”と呼ばれています。
大井早そよ風コース
おおいそそよかぜコース
緑川ダム上流右岸に広がる、掛け干し米の生産地です。目の前に脊梁の峰々を眺めながら、ダムから個人の裏山まで歩きます。高低差を忘れさせる魅力あるコースです。地域の方々との気軽な交流も楽しみの一つです。
畝野よんなっせコース
うねのよんなっせコース
国道沿いの『物産館よんなっせ』をスタートゴールにした気楽に歩けるコースです。ドングリの木の道、キャンプ場の遊歩道、竹林の中の道など変化に富んでいます。物産館での活気ある地域の人とのふれあいも楽しみです。
霊台橋石橋コース
れいだいきょういしばしコース
雄大な霊台橋をスタートに、水路橋の樋渡橋・井竿橋・小さな西の鶴橋と石を渡っていくコースです。昔の姿をそのまま残す石橋はどこか橋郷愁を誘い、筒川の清流は感動ものです。道脇の苔は隠れたポイントです。
柏川井手コース
かしわがわいでコース
江戸末期に拓かれた用水路。たくさんの田んぼを開く為に、水路が高い山中を流れています。途中には難工事で完成した雄亀滝橋。それを感じさせない清らかな水の音を聞きながら、1/1000の勾配のゆるやかな道を歩きます。
砥用まちなかコース
ともちまちなかコース
東から西へ津留川の清流が流れ、それを囲むように市街地が広がっています。丘の上からの町並みの眺望も素晴らしく、川沿いと丘の上、両方の町の歴史も見られます。起伏を楽しめる気持のよいコースです。
